Sweet Affection Bath Truffles

Bath truffles are the quieter more subtle version of the explosive bath bombs that have been trending. With a slower fizz and a different formula they are made to melt more slowly and fizz to the surface leaving a vapor of fragrance along the surface of the bath water. These are wonderful for a relaxing spa treatment or when you just want to sit and soak and enjoy the long lasting aroma. When placed in the water you can expect them to sink and melt slowly giving of a soft light fizz that brings the fragrance to the surface, disperses, and floats lightly over the top of the water.

This recipe will make 16-18 truffles at 1.5 oz. per piece, or larger truffles will make 10-11 pieces at 2 oz. Per truffle.

What you need:

  • 13 oz. Of Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda)
  • 6 oz. Of citric Acid
  • 1 oz. Of Powdered Goat's Milk
  • 2 oz. Cocoa Butter
  • 2 oz. Shea Butter
  • 1 oz. Pink Sugar Fragrance Oil
  • 0.4 oz. Polysorbate 80
  • 1 tsp. Ballet Slippers Pink Mica
  • ¼ tsp Pearl Mica.

Instructions:

In a large bowl mix all the dry ingredients. Add the pearl blue mica into the dry ingredients and mix until the color is even. Carefully melt the shea butter and cocoa butter slowly with short bursts in the microwave. Be careful not to burn or melt the butters too quickly, as they are prone to become grainy once they cool. You can do this slowly over a stove or open fire if you prefer. To get the best texture make sure to melt the butters slowly. Add the liquid butters into the dry ingredients and mix well. You can do this in a stand mixer or by hand. Add the fragrance and polysorbate 80. Mix well. Mold these into 1 to 2 inch size molds.

Allow these to fully dry, and package accordingly.

Note:

These work well if you pack them tightly in solid baking molds if you want a specific shape, flip them over on parchment paper and tap the bottom of the mold gently with a wooden spoon or soft mallet. You can also use an ice-cream scoop.
